WHEREAS, Michael Brown, on behalf of the Village of Lake in the Hills (the Petitioner), has filed an application with the McHenry County Historic Preservation Commission requesting the McHenry County Board grant local landmark status for property commonly known as the Old Ford School, located at 304 Ramble Road, Lake in the Hills, Algonquin Township in the County of McHenry, Illinois, being a parcel of land more fully described as: 

 

THAT PART OF SECTION 29, TOWNSHIP 43 NORTH, RANGE 8 EAST OF THE THIRD PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN, IN MCHENRY COUNTY, ILLINOIS, DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: BEGINNING AT THE INTERSECTION OF THE SOUTHERLY RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF RAMBLE ROAD, AS SHOWN UPON LAKE IN THE HILLS ESTATES UNIT NO. 2, ACCORDING TO THE PLAT THEREOF, RECORDED DECEMBER 2, 1947 AS DOCUMENT 206733 AND THE EAST RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF LAKE DRIVE, AS SHOWN UPON SAID LAKE IN THE HILLS ESTATES UNIT NO. 2; THENCE NORTHEASTERLY, 249.0 FEET, ALONG SAID SOUTHERLY RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE TO THE NORTHWESTERLY CORNER OF LOT 17 IN BLOCK 18 OF SAID LAKE IN THE HILLS ESTATES UNIT NO. 2; THENCE SOUTHEASTERLY, 129.5 FEET, ALONG THE WESTERLY LINE OF SAID LOT 1 TO THE SOUTHWESTERLY CORNER THEREOF AND THE NORTHERLY RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF ALGONQUIN ROAD, AS SHOWN UPON SAID LAKE IN THE HILLS ESTATES UNIT NO. 2; THENCE SOUTHWESTERLY, 294.0 FEET, ALONG SAID NORTHERLY RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH SAID EASTERLY LINE OF LAKE DRIVE; THENCE NORTH, 137.4 FEET, ALONG SAID EAST RIGHT-OF WAY LINE TO SAID POINT OF BEGINNING, ALL IN MCHENRY COUNTY, ILLINOIS. [Being 0.89 of an acre in area, more or less (PIN 19-29-282-026)].

WHEREAS, the Petitioner is requesting that the aforementioned property described above be considered as a local historic landmark under the criteria identified in the McHenry County Historic Preservation Ordinance adopted by the County of McHenry in November of 1991; and

WHEREAS, a public hearing on said application for petition (HPC # 2017-17-LM) was held before the McHenry County Historic Preservation Commission in the manner and form prescribed by ordinance on the 3rd day of July, 2019; and

WHEREAS, as a result of said hearing, the taking of evidence, and viewing of exhibits advanced thereat, the McHenry County Historic Preservation Commission did unanimously approve a resolution recommending that the McHenry County Board approve an ordinance designating the Old Ford School as a local historic landmark; and

WHEREAS, the Planning, Environment and Development Committee of the McHenry County Board has reviewed this ordinance.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, that this County Board of McHenry County, Illinois hereby designates the Old Ford School property as described above to be a local historic landmark and authorizes said property to be included in the inventory of properties deemed as historically significant under the guidelines established under the McHenry County Historic Preservation Ordinance; and

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that the County Clerk is hereby authorized to distribute a certified copy of this Ordinance to the Village Administrator of the Village of Lake in the Hills; the Chairman of the Historic Preservation Commission; the Director of Planning and Development, the McHenry County Recorder; the McHenry County Treasurer; and the County Administrator.
